Woodburning Art Without Electricity

I can only imagine the immense patience and time this would take, and mistakes aren't exactly easy to resolve. These were done on found driftwood, using the focused power of the sun via a magnifying glass:

AgeMaps: Old And Young Photos

I forsee a Worth1000 or Flickr group doing this soon - split-screen of your school photo and one from today, called an "AgeMap" by artist Booby Neel Adams:

Adams' website expands this to parent/child and (nsfw) married-couple pairings as well — the lining up of bodies is the most excellent feature of any of them. Found via TheChive, who always does a horrible job of crediting their sources.

Kitty Staring Contest

Far better than the ninja cat, this work of art uses a very simple construction to get across a more complex message: cats are freakin' creepy.

It's called Staring at Cat Staring at Cat Staring, by Steve Bishop.

Tattooed Dead Pigs

In today's interesting meshing of medium and method: tattooed taxidermy swine. (Warning: very crappy Javascript navigation; click on "stuffed tattooed pigs" At the top)

Outsider Artist, 112 Years Old

This might look like the same kid who did "tomb of the dragon king", but in fact, it was done by a 12-year-old born in '96...oh, wait -- that's 1896, making him a 112-year-old artist. It's very much outsider art, cartoonish and abstract, lacking perspective and form, but containing oh-so-much personal style (slideshow):

Poodles From Space!

Most groomers try to make the dog look more like what we think a dog is supposed to look like -- and then there's this kind of groomer:

Be sure to visit the slideshow...it's...enlightening.

Products That Keep The Shape Of Their Packaging

A photoset of products that briefly retain their packaging's shape. Cranberries and spam are the obvious ones, but this one of broccoli is mesmerising:

Panty Hose Avant Garde Statuary - Made At Home!

Ever wonder how you -- YOU -- can become an abstract sculptor? A wood base, a untwisted clothes-hanger, and a pair of pantyhose are the main components in making something worthy of being on a steel-and-glass end table in somebody's monochrome New York 1980s penthouse:

Banksy: Not Caught On Video This Time

While Banksy allowed himself to be caught on film not too long ago, his recent installment teases the video-observed world by operating directly underneath a CCD camera:

Creepy Realistic Statues

These are so unbelievably creepy, I want to have them. Line them up in my livingroom. And then cry in terror for fifteen minutes after sitting down on the couch. That would be so cool.

Library of Congress: Abe's Fingertips

The Library of Congress has some neato posters -- advertising the LOC as 'knowledge at your fingertips', as represented by art interpreted in fingerprints. Cool stuff.
