Octagon Global Recruiting

Last night during Lost, the commercial above ran towards the end of the show -- it was pretty clear to me it was viral, so I had to check it out. Their website is a place to sign up for a listserv and little else, and I haven't gotten any sort of email from them yet -- we'll see what comes. Their recruitment dates, July 24-27 in San Diego, curiously line up with Comic-Con 2008's dates.

Between The Legs

Print magazine gives us the most crotch ever seen on the internet -- er, I think that came out wrong... They have a rather-full compilation of a stylistic crutch: the view through a person's parted legs -- you'll be surprised just how often it is used:

Why The Mugshot?

Why'd this lovely young lady get a mugshot? Seems she earned the mugshot doing something right: she was a freedom rider. More mugshots here and here.

It's amazing how many different styles and shapes these old microphones come in, it's no wonder they end up being used for other things:

House Crushed By Ship

You know, when you buy insurance on a home, being crushed by a cargo ship usually isn't a hig priority; these people apparently beat the odds.

Long-Term Car Owners

I recently noticed a guy I knew in High School finally bought a new pickup: it was old when he first got it, and up until this spring he had driven it around for his lawncare business. As you might expect, as a work truck, it had been slowly falling apart and crumpling up for the past twenty years; while he's pretty much looked the same, the truck aged -- unlike these long-term vehicle owners, who've stopped their cars from aging but were unable to prevent the passage of time for themselves:

Chalk Chess

The site looks more 'theoretical' than actually applicable in the real world, but it's an intriguing idea, with a product suited for unique materials (so long as they're two complimentary colors) -- Chalk Chess:
